Arctic Daily KML Files for Google Earth
The National Ice Center produces daily shape files showing the ice edges
and the marginal ice zone around the polar regions. For our customers who
use Google Earth, the daily polar Marginal Ice Zone products are also made
available in KMZ format. These files are now available showing area outlines
as well as solid areas.
KMZ files for both the Arctic and Antarctic are retained for two weeks,
and are listed below. In this list, the date of the file is given as the
4-digit year plus the 3-digit Julian day. The undated file is always the
most recent one produced.
The Ice Center also maintains a multi-year archive of these and
related products as charts and shape files. See our

complete data set on the web, some days may be missing).
